What is recreational soccer?

Recreational soccer is a soccer program that is primarily devoted to the enjoyment and development of soccer players without the emphasis on travel or high level competition. The purpose of recreational soccer is to provide an opportunity for the participants to have fun, learn the sport and develop life skills including a life-long love of the game.

What is competitive soccer?

The main differences between recreational and competitive soccer are cost, time commitment, skill level and intensity. Only the best, most skilled kids from each age group will be selected for these teams during the annual tryouts usually held the first week in June.

What is the soccer season?

There is no traditional season in youth soccer. We play a fall season (August through November) and a spring season (February through May).

What does 02 Lady Phantoms Blue mean?

This is a competitive team made up of girls born between August 1, 2001 and July 31, 2002. Teams are color coded to differentiate between teams within the same age group.

How many practices are there per week?

Recreational teams usually practice twice per week and competitive teams practice three times.

What equipment do I need?

Shin guards are required for all practices and games. Cleats are required for U-9 and up.. For very young players, normal sports shoes will do fine. You can get all you need at GP Sports.

How long does practice last?

Practices for all recreational and competitive teams normally last 1 1/2 hours, sometimes shorter for younger players.

What does my child need to bring to practice?

A ball, soccer shoes, shin guards, plenty of water and a great attitude.

What size ball do you use?

U-8 players and younger play with a No. 3, U-10 through U-12 play with a No. 4 and U14 though adult use a No. 5.
