 Junior Phantoms Program Details

The Junior Phantoms Program focuses on the complete development of each player. The main goal is to promote players’ development over team development in a child-centered environment.

The Junior Phantoms Program participates in the ASA D-League. You can read more about the format of this league at https://www.alsoccer.org/d-league/.

The Hoover Soccer Club Junior Phantoms Program ASA D-League format seeks individual player development, satisfaction and retention, and is designed to build less pressured youth soccer retention for coaches, adult spectators, and referees.

All Junior Phantoms staff are licensed coaches and specialize in working with the U8 – U12 ages.

Training

  • Players participate in multiple training sessions per week – 2 times for U8 and U9 ages and 3 times for U9-U12 ages. Each session is 90 minutes in length and is with their team and/or with their age group
  • Our Coach to player ratio will be one certified Coach for every 12-16 players
  • Developmentally appropriate curriculum for U8 – U12 ages

How This Works?

  • Gives the coaches and programs the freedom to structure teams and move players so that all games are competitive with no blow outs in the final scores.
  • If a player is dominating a game and not challenged he/she can be moved to a game where they are with other players of the same ability, size, and speed
  • If a player is not engaged and cannot compete with the other players the player can be  moved to another game with other players of the same ability, size, and speed

Games & Tournaments

  • The Junior Phantoms Program does NOT require travel out of town! Everything from games to tournaments is kept local to the Birmingham area!
  • 6-8 games will be scheduled for each team with Birmingham area clubs participating in the new Legion D-League Academy format.
  • Most games will be Saturday mornings/Sunday afternoons – schedule to be released before the season starts.
  • Teams will play at least one tournament, usually 2 per fall and spring seasons.

What Does This Include?

  • Three times per week practice (With the exception of U9 who practice 2 times per week!)

  • All other club overhead expenses

What does this not include?

  • Referee Fees
  • Uniforms
  • Coaches travel expenses (if any, usually none)
