The following positions are up for election:

  • President
  • Treasurer
  • Member at Large (1)

The below HSC members have been nominated for these open positions:

Marissa Quinn - President

My son started as a Rec player with HSC, then Competitive, and now plays with HVS. HSC plays a huge role in many kids lives. I would like to continue to build upon the improvements and successes that HSC has had over the past years. I have served on the HSC Board for the past 7 years to include the positions of Member at Large, Treasurer, and President. I also served as Director, Treasurer and President for another non-profit for 10 years. My background in employee benefits and Air Force Logistics Officer give me many experiences to help me be a productive board member and leader.

Billy Hill - Treasurer

I would like to continue to serve on the board and support HSC in any way possible. It has truly been a pleasure to serve the club and support our soccer community. I believe there are a lot of great things occurring right now and we have the opportunity to continue to build on the momentum. I have been fortunate to serve HSC as an at-large member and the last two years as Treasurer. I feel that my experience on the board, working as as a team manager for HSC and HVS the last five years, and my position as Director of Corporate Systems enables me to serve our club with passion and dedication.

Dustin Johnson - Member at Large

My youngest son plays in the recreational league U10, and I am also the coach of the team. My son has played for several years and my oldest boy has as well. My oldest son will be back on the U12 rec team in the Spring with my youngest playing as well. I would like to serve on the board because I have grown to love and appreciate the Hoover Soccer Club and how wonderfully it serves the community! I have been in Project Management for many years and I believe my experience there as well as on the soccer field would be a great addition to HSC. I played soccer for many years in my youth and my children have helped me rediscover that passion!

Eric Efferson - Member at Large

My son currently plays for a u10 rec team (I’m a coach).

I would like to serve on the board because I have become more and more invested in HSC over the past 4 years. I enjoy the game and the joy it has brought the kids to get out and play. I would like to be a part of the growth of the club and serve my community. I have not served on a board but have been in banking for roughly 12 years and have worked alongside many non-profits and associations.

Nick Hellend - Member at Large

I believe it is important to give back to the community and help make things better. I have managed a 30-million-dollar company and was in charge of the financials (P&L) to make and keep it profitable. Also, I have managed 25 people and trained all of them. I have also served in the military and have various commendations and awards.

Brooke Mitchell - Member at Large

I am interested in serving on the HSC board in the member at large position. I have two sons who both play for HSC, one on a competitive team and one on a recreational team. I coached the 2012 boys recreational team for 3 seasons and I am I interested in serving on the board to help promote the growth of soccer in the City of Hoover. I have taught 7th grade science in the Hoover City School system for 20 years and have strong ties to the community. Additionally, I am outgoing person and interested in improving and continuing the work of the Hoover Soccer Club.

Ryan Dodd - Member at Large

I have 1 child playing currently in U11 Rec, but they are moving to Competitive in the Spring. I would love to serve on the board to help grow the sport of soccer in our community. I believe soccer is a great avenue for kids to learn a ton about themselves while also learning fundamentals and skills. I have coached many sports with my children, but soccer is the one that we come back to that helped them grow as individuals and as teammates! I have always been told that I am a leader, I am great with kids and my personality is my strongest quality. I lead a small group at church for adults on Sunday and on Wednesday I lead a small group of 6th grade boys! I have coached with HSC for about 2.5 years now and am working on completing my grassroots coaching certification. Also, this fall season I started refereeing recreational soccer and am looking at pursuing the next level certification for refs! I have a passion for this sport and our community to help Hoover have the best soccer club in our area!

Larry Ingram - Member at Large

Our family has resided in Hoover for 17 years, and I currently have two (2) children in the club. My son currently plays on the HVS 2011 NXT2 NAL Team and has been involved in HSC since he was U4 with the exception of a year or two playing in both the recreational program and the competitive program. My daughter is in the recreational program playing in the U8 group, and she has likewise been continuously involved since she was on a U4 team.
I would like to join the Board because I feel that during my time involved with the club as a parent, coach, and manager, I have seen both the good and the bad along the way. There is a lot of good work going on in the club and a lot of caring and dedicated staff members who are doing their utmost to grow and develop these young players, and I want to help continue this process. However, like any organization, there is always room to grow and improve. Based on my observations and conversations with other parents, there is a perceived disconnect that has developed between the club, its parents, and the players. I have learned through the years that I can either stand on the sidelines and have little or no impact on an outcome, or I can be on the field, play the game, and help the team. As a member of the BoD, I feel like I would be in a much better position to utilize my skills to help grow and improve the HSC for everyone.
